چکیده

We report near-infrared molecular hydrogen and Brackettg observations towards the massive star formation site G323.7420.26. The region contains an H II region, ,30 arcsec across, and two Class II methanol maser sites, which are separate from the H II region. We show that the spectral type of the star powering the H II region is B0. We also show that at least one of the maser sites is powered by an infrared source that appears to be at least as luminous as the star responsible for the H II region. However, neither of the two stars associated with the methanol maser sites shows any signs of radio continuum emission above 0.2 mJy. For at least one of these maser sites, this shows a real deficiency in the radio continuum flux, which we suggest is an indication that the star is in an early stage of development, before its H II region becomes visible, or it is a multiple intermediate mass star system. A shocked molecular hydrogen outflow is seen extending from one of the maser sites towards the west and possibly in a fan shape, suggesting that the stars associated with the maser sites are indeed at a very early stage

From Massive Protostars to a Giant H Ii Region: Submillimeter Imaging of the Galactic Mini-starburst W43

We have carried out a submillimeter continuum and spectroscopic study of the W43 main complex, a massive star-forming region, which harbors a giant H ii region. The maps reveal a filamentary structure containing ∼ 50 fragments with masses of 40− 4 000 M⊙ and typical diameters of 0.25 pc. Their large sizes, large non-thermal velocities (∆v ∼ 5 km s), and high densities (nH2 ∼ 10 6 cm) suggest th...

The Protoplanetary Disks in the Nearby Massive Star Forming Region Cygnus Ob2

The formation of stars in massive clusters is one of the main modes of the star formation process. However, the study of massive star forming regions is hampered by their typically large distances to the Sun. One exception to this is the massive star forming region Cygnus OB2 in the Cygnus X region, at the distance of ∼ 1400 pc. Cygnus OB2 hosts very rich populations of massive and low-mass sta...

Chandra observations of the massive star - forming region S 106 X - ray emission from the embedded massive protostellar object IRS 4

We present Chandra observations of the massive star-forming region S106, a prominent H  region in Cygnus, associated with an extended molecular cloud and a young cluster. The nebula is excited by a single young massive star located at the center of the molecular cloud and the embedded cluster. The prominence of the cluster in the Chandra observation presented here confirms its youth and allow...

A multiwavelength study of massive star - forming region IRAS 22506 + 5944

We present a multi-line study of the massive star-forming region IRAS 22506+5944. A new 6.7 GHz methanol maser was detected. 12CO, 13CO, C18O and HCO J = 1-0 transition observations reveal a star formation complex consisting mainly of two cores. The dominant core has a mass of more than 200 M⊙, while another one only about 35 M⊙. Both cores are obviously at different evolutionary stages. A 12CO...

Deconstructing the High-mass Star-forming Region Iras 23033+5951

We report interferometric observations of the high-mass star-forming object IRAS 23033+5951. Our observations reveal two massive molecular cloud cores, designated IRAS 23033+5951-MMS1 and IRAS 23033+5951-MMS2. MMS1 has already formed a massive protostar and MMS2 appears to be on the verge of doing so. The latter core may be an example of a massive analogue to a “Class 0” starforming object. The...
